Stefan Bondell is a painter and a poet based in New York City. Actively combining the two disciplines in a series of performative readings he initiates and organizes, his work reveals a deep engagement with and commitment to current political, environmental and social events making the headlines of mass media. As much as his poetry is characterized with refreshing wordplays and rhymes, his painting balances on the verge of the surreal, shuffling the abstract and the figurative in mesmerizing, evocative compositions. He has exhibited and performed across the US and Italy, most notably at the 39 Great Jones, NYC, The Hole, NYC, and the Soncino Biennial.
