Caroline Mesquita

Born in 1989 in Brest, Caroline Mesquita graduated from The Mountain School of Art, Los Angeles, and the Beaux-Arts in Paris. In her sculptural installations, she juxtaposes figures built entirely with sheets of treated copper, brass and other metals with experimental videos in which she interacts with her protagonists in a jerky slow motion, to the accompaniment of clinking metallic sound compositions. Exhibited in theatrical set ups providing a playground for their dynamism, her life-size “characters” interact with the viewers in a playful manner.  She has recently exhibited at the Fondation d’Entreprise Ricard, Paris (2017), Jupiter Artland, Edinburg (2016) and SpazioA, Pistoia (2015), among others. In 2014, she was awarded Prix de sculpture Joseph Ebstein in Paris. Her solo exhibition at Kasia Michalski will be held in June 2018.
